I really did not know what to expect when I signed up for the sessions. I have never meditated in my life and had some preconceived ideas of what the sessions could be. All I knew is that is would be long (8 sessions), have homework and be outside of my comfort zone. The sessions had a huge impact on me, how I react to events, myself and others around me. It provided lots of food for thoughts mixed with very tangible tools to use to avoid falling back into depressive and/or anxious modes.
Julie was a tremendous facilitator ensuring everyone felt comfortable, understood the material and topics and ensuring the conversations remained non specific to each others personal situations. This was time absolutely well invested. I have been putting into practice the techniques we learned and feel much more prepared on days where anxiety/depression comes knocking on my door. Life is far from perfect but I now have more tools to face difficult days. I recommend the program to everyone!
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy has allowed me to build a strong identity in a unifying environment. I was very apprehensive about discussing my personal problems with people I didn't know. In the end, I would recommend it to anyone, as there was no question of displaying one's emotions in front of everyone, or feeling obliged to participate.
The program is designed to equip us to deal with unsettling times in our lives and for me it was very effective.
